Unlike YORKIE, CYBERIA …… IS FOR GIRLS!!!!!
that is the latest motto by which this boy band is lately sporting itself!!!

Starting out back in 98 with a girlie and a different vocalist, yet now fronted by their stage-friendly guru Noel who acts out every emotion of his lyrics on stage (as clear hereunder), CYBERIA have re-invented themselves into something best described as more than unique!!!

Now a boy band unlike N SYNC, TAKE THAT & BACKSTREET BOYS, indeed rock stars on the way they are, not least as their rehearsal place is a like a mini-studio, a welcoming non-smoking zone far astray from other units at the Marsa Music Complex.

But enough talking as BISOUL sits down for a chat with the humandroids themselves --- CYBERIA!!! A word of warning - humandroids communicate in methods oblivious to us so while one moment they looked at me in awe as if they just met god, I am now faced with this look mixing both love and hate..... check them out, they want you to tell them "how cool!!!!"

1. Hello all purveyors of this crafted machine music! Let’s address the CYBERIA of now as your history is archived at www.virtualcyberia.com for all to see. Who are you and what would be your immediate plans as far as live shows, recording, etc….?

N – We are Antoine (aka Toni) on machines & beats, Andrew on guitars, Pannol on bass and myself Noel singing. We lately returned performing live after some time reshaping our sound and recording, and after a couple of good gigs, we are now all looking forward to perform in fReeZe, that shall be held at Signals this coming Sept 20!

T - Shortly afterwards, we shall be releasing some of our recently recorded works in the form of an EP so watch out for that!

2. CYBERIA have long been known as the alternative to Malta’s alternative scene, sharing the stage with bands from diverse musical backgrounds and appearing in different art presentations. May you give us a highlight of your best moments so far.

T – Definitely This Nasty Habit Called Art supporting weird death metal act SCEPTOCRYPT @ Rock Café sometime back. I hit my head on the night and had a whole mixed up vibe of buzz thereafter…..

N - Definitely one of their best moments without them knowing was when they played LOVE SEXY! I was in the crowd that afternoon, and it is there I said to myself I had to become CYBERIA’s vocalist!!!

A – Some of us were featured during the prime time of an industrial EBM party called BREED!!!! It was smashing that night

P – I also recall when we played a 15-minute non-stop track at a manga party called ANIME. The whole light effects moving to our beat and making the hall all go nuts, that was a plus for me!!!

3. Let’s face it, while a steady rock band with hard in-your-face guitars, you are still one of the forerunners in the local scene when it comes to the use of electronica with a style yet unmatched locally, as I see it. So I wondered how do you view all this, and would you rather fade out of the scene as the only craftsmen of your hybrid or would you fancy some bands experimenting in your own footsteps but in their own way?

A - Well, actually I think that bands including electronic material & equipment have nowadays integrated well into Malta’s local scene.

N – Maybe our uniqueness lies not in how we use electronica after all, but how we blend different combinations of styles & techniques.

4. That is all, a concise short and sweet CYBERIA chat. If you lads think anything peculiar Malta’s female population ought to learn about, you have only 1 line each, thus leaving space for gossip at supermarkets, hairdressers, the gym and other venues.
