Obscuritas Aeturnus

OBSCURITAS AETURNUS was originally spawn in 1995 by three members, namely Alfred Burd, Manuel Camilleri (Gassu) and Simon Taylor on vocals & guitars, drums and guitars respectively. Soon after Maiden joined as bass player but unfortunately Simon left because of musical differences.

However we kept the hope of completing the band alive and three months later Toni Theuma joined as rhythm guitarist. We worked hard and a few weeks later we had an opportunity to perform our set of melodic dark gothic death metal at Rock Café with two other bands. The crowd was massive and we had many words of praise after the show.

Throughout the following year OBSCURITAS worked even more on the live front, with a gig at The Abyss, Bugibba and another at Rock Café, Paceville being the highlights.

Unfortunately this brought with it the departure of Alfred, thus leaving us without a vocalist and 2nd guitarist. Yet we continued practicing and arranging the material until Tusu (an old fan and friend of the band) and Wenzu joined as vocalist and guitars respectively.

After more rehearsing with the new members and the inclusion of Edward Ellul as session keyboardist, OBSCURITAS AETURNUS was now ready to hit the recording studio. Time was taken to get the decent sounds and a rehearsal promo entitled "Omnia Somnia (Everthing is a Dream)" was made for the band and deeply interested promoters only.

From the studio the band then took a break to cater for some live events again in 1999, the first of which was our performance at Dempsey's, Bugibba. And it seems the audience had not forgotten OBSCURITAS AETURNUS as the club recorded one of its most highly attended events on the night.

This was followed by a 2nd performance in the official opening of the newly refurbished Dempsey's Club (now renamed The Edge) a couple of weeks later. Yet again another terrific audience packed the place.

Finally we had the opportunity to also perform in the Friday Fragments event held by Bisoul Promotions on July 99 which saw us even perform to a wider audience among varied other dark art set-ups, particularly a fashion show with a difference concentrating on the theme of Witchcraft.

Finally a new keyboardist Mario joined the band in 2000. His influences brought more melody to the overall band sound and we have since been working on new more musically challenging and varied material. We hope to capture this new sound both live and in the studio again, however we have since suffered some health problems which slowed down our plans….shit happens! Yet when "Mother Venus will finally rise, OBSCURITAS AETERNUS brings the world`s demise".

To all our fans and alike we hope to return to give you "the pleasure of suffering" soon!
