  2. Module 2 Intermediate Rock School - for those about to rock!!!!!
  3. Module 3 Intermediate Guitar - for who wants to be an above average guitarist
  4. Module 4 The Prog & Jazz Guitarist - for musicians into advanced rock & jazz
  5. Module 5 Acoustic Guitar for Friends -  for beginners with an interest into folk guitar
  6. Module 6 Parent & Child Folk Guitar - an opportunity for parent & child to learn the wonderful guitar together.
  7. Module 7 Music Theory Graded Exams - choice of classical theory (for general composition and its understanding) OR more contemporary practical theory (and how it applies to different instruments)

Fees vary from £8 to £11 per participant per session (depending if held at home studio in SE London Bermondsey or other studios/ local community centres within zone 1-3 of the TfL network requiring booking in advance.

The likelihood of lessons running in studios other than SE London Bermondsey depends on their respective prices/policies/time slot availabilities varying according to the time of day. In a nutshell, the more students booked in a particular area, the more likely it is for a course to run there. So if you rather have lessons in your own area, please kindly spread the word among your local friends by downloading/forwarding this flyer (+ you get rewarded a £10 voucher for every mate you suggest).

Palm Muting & Power Chords
Building of Chords & mapping them on fingerboard
Rhythm Guitar using Closed Position Chords & 3-string 9th chords
Closed Position Speed Scales – Major, 3 Minors (natural, harmonic, jazz melodic), Pentatonic Major & Minor
Running Scales
Same scale harmonising & arpeggio pattern mapping on fingerboard
Hints re soloing – establish the key, then forget it and groove on
Group Project – Real Life Ideas how to combine Chords & Solos as one

Prerequisites : Some Basic Skills (Scale Shapes, Open Chords & some Barre Chords) & Good Fingerboard Knowledge (1 private lesson could be taken in advance to learn this).

Module 3 : Intermediate Guitar
String Skipping Chordal Playing
Finger Picking
Speed Scales & Slur Building Techniques
Bending & Vibrato
Modes – relation to major/ natural minor scales & mapping them on guitar
Vertical vs Horizontal – Applying parts of different modes to move within the same scale across fingerboard
Natural Harmonics across fingerboard
7th chords & Rhythm Guitar in Latin Music
Group Project – Application of all the above in 1 or 2 songs written between group

Prerequisites : Basic understanding of most items in Module 2 (inc. fingerboard by heart)

Module 4 : The Prog & Jazz Soloist
Presentation of varied Prog Rock & Jazz Styles; Artificial Harmonics
Extended Chords - 9ths, 11ths, 13ths.
Use of two-note chords (diads) in soloing
Combined Flat & Finger Picking; Wes Montgomery octave-style playing
Transposition, Modulation, Pivot Chords & Secondary Dominant 7th Chords
Combining Tapping with String Skipping Licks across different Speed Scales/Modes
Extending the CAGED system to speed scales = more chord shapes and solos everywhere
Whole-Tone & Diminished Scales & their Application in Solos; Division of Class*
Jazz Harmony - Tritione substitutions, Neapolitan 6th chords, German Augmented 6ths & Coltrane changes & introduction to Bebop scales

Eligible for : Musicians into Advanced Rock Styles & Jazz
Prerequisites : Basic understanding of most Module 3; basic Sight Reading; solid diatonic theoretical knowledge + a love for adventurous music - prog rock, jazz, extreme metal, etc.
Expected Daily Practice Time between Lessons : 15mins alone + 1 weekly out-of-class rehearsal as a team from lesson 4-8 (class will be split as 2 seperate teams)

Module 5 : Acoustic Guitar for Friends
Presentation of varied different Folk Styles & Techniques; Unlocking the fingerboard; Alternate Picking methods
Different guitar woods & sound production; Finger independence techniques; Introduction of Tablature
Basic open position chords
Strumming in Time to songs using basic open position chords progressions
Minor Scale Fingerings
Applying minor scales for melodies
